FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: TAGLIAFERRI STRIKES OUT NINE IN WIN OVER MILLIGAN – SYTIVA SEITZ HITS THREE-RUN HOMER IN EIGHTH

MYRTLE BEACH, SC – Alison Tagliaferri (Linden/Jersey Shore) improved to 2-0 on the season with a complete game four-hitter in 9-3 win over Milligan College in eight innings in the Snowbird Invitation at Myrtle Beach, SC Thursday afternoon. Mansfield lost their first game of the day in a 7-0 setback to Missouri-Rolla.

Tagliaferri struck out nine batters while walking two and scattering four hits over the eight innings. With the score tied at 3-3 at the end of regulation, the Mountaineers exploded for six runs in the top of the eighth keyed by Sytiva Seitz three-run home run. Shannon McDonnell went 2-4 with two RBI’s while Seitz, who also tripled, was 2-5. Heather Long, Nancy Quinn and Tricia Bailey each had two hits.

Quinn and Kristen Dean got Mansfield’s only two hits in the opener.

The Mountaineers improve to 7-3 overall and will travel to North Carolina on Saturday to play St. Augustine.
