FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: MOUNTIES FALL TO KUTZTOWN IN PSAC EAST TWINBILL

MANSFIELD – The Mansfield University softball team suffered a 4-1, 8-1 setback to Kutztown in a PSAC East doubleheader at Helen Lutes Field Wednesday afternoon.

The Mountaineers, who had played their first 20 games of the season on the batting .344 over that span, managed only eight hits in the doubleheader.

In the opener, Alison Tagliaferri got the start on the mound and threw effectively scattering eight hits and striking out five but three MU errors led to three Kuztown runs. Nancy Quinn doubled and Tagliaferri drove in the Mountaineers only run.

In the nightcap, Kutztown broke open a scoreless tie with three runs in the fourth inning. Nancy Quinn went 2-3 for the Mountaineers.

Mansfield will host Millersville in a doubleheader on Friday.
