In the opener, Martino was razor sharp scattering four hits over the 11 innings and walking two on top of her 18 strikeouts. But that would be the Mountaineers biggest scoring threat until the 11th inning when Kris Kelly started off on second and moved to third when Nancy Quinn reached on a fielders choice. Tagliaferri then tripled to drive in two runs and scored herself on an error. Kutztown had runners on first and third in the bottom of the inning with one out, but Martino struck out the final two batters to pick up her fourth win of the season. In the nightcap, Tagliaferri continued her heroics on the day with her no-hitter the first in school history against a PSAC East opponent. Tagliaferri had a perfect game for 4 1/3 innings before walking a batter. The only other hitter to reach base came on a walk to lead off the bottom of the ninth inning. No runner reached second as Tagliaferri struck out four with 10 groundouts and 7 fly outs over the seven innings. Tagliaferri also scored the winning run in the game when she led off the seventh inning with a double and scored on a single by Kris Kelly. Mansfield allowed gave up no extra base hits in the 18 innings and committed no errors while holding Kutztown scoreless. The Mountaineers improve to 20-12 overall and 7-9 in the PSAC East and will travel to Millersville on Saturday.
