IMMEDIATE RELEASE: MOUTIES PLACE FOUR ON ALL-PSAC SOFTBALL TEAM – TAGLIAFERRI
EARNS FIRST TEAM HONORS – BAILEY, LASKOWSKI AND QUINN NAMED TO SECOND TEAM
MANSFIELD – Alison Tagliaferri (Linden/Jersey Shore) was named to
first team honors while Trisha Bailey (Canton/Canton),
Jackie Laskowski (Olyphant/Mid Valley) and Nancy Quinn (Merritt
Island, FL/Merritt Island) were all named to second team honors on the
2004 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East Division All-Conference
Softball team. The team, selected by the PSAC East head coaches, was released
today by the PSAC office.

A
junior,Tagliaferri earned her third straight All-PSAC East honors and her
first as a first team member after being named to second team honors her first
two seasons. Tagliaferri was selected a utility player after appearing as a
pitcher, outfielder, first baseman and designated hitter over the course of the
season.
Tagliaferri ranked third in the PSAC in batting with a .429 average. Her 45 hits
included seven doubles, three triples and eight home runs. She also drove in 33
runs. Tagliaferri ranked first in the conference in slugging percentage (.781%)
and third in on-base percentage (.479). She was also third in the PSAC in home
runs (8). Tagliaferri also ranked seventh in the conference in ERA (1.29) while
posting an 8-4 record. In 98.0 innings worked, she struck out 90 batters. |

Bailey earned
second team honors at third base. The sophomore appeared in 39 games on the
season where she batted .300. Her 33 hits included five doubles, two triples and
a home run. She also batted on 11 runners while scoring 19 times. A standout
fielder, Bailey committed just seven errors on the season. |

Laskowski was
named to second team honors at first base after being selected to the first team
last season. Although hampered by injury late in the season, Laskowski still
batted .264 on the season with eight doubles, two triples and seven home runs.
She also drove in 32 runs. |

Quinn repeated as
a second team selection from last year. Selected as the designated player, the
junior appeared in 41 games batting .414. Her team best 46 hits included 11
doubles, two triples and a home run. She batted in 13 runs while scoring 17
times. |
Mansfield finished
the 2004 season with a 27-15 record and won the ECAC Division II Championship
this past weekend.
