FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: MANSFIELD DROPS DOUBLEHEADER TO SHIPPENSBURG 10-0 and 5-1

SHIPPENSBURG-Mansfield University opened up the 2004 PSAC East season dropping two games to Shippensburg University Friday afternoon at Robb Sports Complex.

In the opening game Shippensburg defeated the Mountaineers 10-0 behind the pitching performance of Kelley Tiesi who surrendered just one hit through four innings of work while striking out six.

Junior Nancy Quinn ( Merritt Island , FL / Merritt Island ) had the Mountaineers lone hit. 

In the nightcap Shippensburg scored all five of their runs in the first inning which was enough to defeat Mansfield 5-1. 

The Mountaineers got on the board in the sixth inning when junior Jackie Laskowski (Olyphant/Mid-Valley) drove in senior Heather Long (Pottstown/Pottsgrove) on an RBI single.

Mansfield is now 13-5 overall and 0-2 in the PSAC East. The Mountaineers will be back in action tomorrow against West Chester University for a 1 p.m. start.
