RELEASE DATE: 3/19/05 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: AMY MARTINO THROWS PERFECT GAME IN SWEEP OVER LIVINGSTONE – SENIOR STRIKES OUT 14 OF 15 BATTERS FACED
Martino was the definition of domination striking 14 of 15 batters she faced in the game including the first nine in a row. The only fair ball allowed was a ground out to Martino to start the fourth inning. She received solid support from her teammates who pounded out 16 hits with Heather Long going 3-5 with two triples and four RBI’s. Freshman Brittany Walker was 3-3 with three RBI while Tricia Bailey went 2-3 with a double, triple and two RBI’s. In the opener, Dean had a no-hitter for 4 2/3 innings before allowing a single to April Butler. She stuck out the next batter to end the game. Dean struck out 11 of the 17 batters she faced in improving to 6-1 on the season. The Mountaineers rapped out 15 hits with Kris Kelly going 3-3 with two doubles. Marissa Kosydar was 2-4 with three RBI’s. The Mountaineer improve to 13-1, the best start in school history. They open the PSAC East schedule when they travel to East Stroudsburg this coming Friday.
