FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Mansfield soccer offers Coaching Clinic for area youth & high school soccer coaches
MANSFIELD – Mansfield University women’s soccer head coach Tim Dempsey and the Mansfield Elite Soccer Academy is offering a unique coaching clinic on Dec. 8.
Instead of teaching players how to improve their soccer skills, the clinic will teach the teachers how to become a better coach.
“It’s a clinic designed for anyone who wants to learn how to be a better soccer coach,” said Dempsey. “We will go over how to organize a practice, what drills to run and why you run them. It will be a great learning experience for people who want to learn more about soccer.”
The clinic is designed to benefit everyone – from the youth soccer coach who has never coached before to coaches at the high school level.
The clinic will be held on Saturday, Dec. 8 from 1:30-4:30 at Mansfield University’s Decker Gymnasium. The $25 registration also includes a free t-shirt.
Dempsey, a former All-American soccer player and captain of the NCAA Division III National Championship team, and assistant coach Eric Sira will be the featured presenters at the clinic.
Dempsey started the women’s soccer program at Mansfield in 2002 and has served as head coach since. He was the head coach at Green Mountain College in Vermont before coming to Mansfield where he coached his teams to 11 conference championships and three NAIA National Championship Tournament appearances.
Sira was the former head men’s soccer coach at Corning Community College and has coached with the Horseheads Soccer Club, Soaring Capitol Soccer Club and the Rochester Jr. Rhino’s Soccer club.
