Syracuse Classic Win Stephens Tournament -- Bradford Captures Palmer Title

Horseheads 4
Bath rallied with four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning and then scored the winning run in the bottom of the eighth on a RBI single by Brad Bento to pull out a 5-4 win over Horsheads and advance to the Josh Palmer Championship Game. Mark Carlson went 2-3 with two doubles to pace Horeheads. Joel Green got the win in relief for Bath.
Bradford 6
Conneaut 3
Bradford scored two runs in the third, fourth and sixth inning to down Conneaut 6-3 and advance to the Josh Palmer Fund championship game. Kayle Sickler went 3-3 at the plate for Bradford. Brandon Carr pitched six and two/thirds, striking out six for the win.

Bath 2
In the Palmer Championship game, Bradford County scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning and held on for a 5-2 win over Bath. Kyle Mallow went the distance for the win with Ramy Ragab driving in two runs.

Syracuse 12
Greece 2
Syracuse exploded for seven runs in the top seventh inning to earn a berth in the Joel Stephens Championship Game. Syracuse broke up a 1-1 tie with a run in the fourth, two in the fifth, one in the sixth and added 7 in the top of the seventh for a 12-2 win over Greece. Matt Nandin paced the Syracuse attack with four hits.
Brockville 3
Corning Gray 2
Brockville broke a 1-1 tie in the fourth inning when Ivan Cherwinski doubled to drive in two runs for a 3-1 lead. Corning rallied to make it 3-2 in the bottom of the seventh but Brockville held on for a 3-2 win when centerfielder Kyle Barclay threw home and catcher Jeff Osler did a great job blocking the plate and applying the tag for a game ending doubleplay.

In the Joel Stephens Championship game, Syracuse – which lost to Lamm Post in last year’s championship game – continued their impressive run with a 16-6 win over Brockville (ONT). Syracuse allowed six runs – more than they did in all four of their early tournament games combined -- but pounded out a tournament high 16 to claim their first Joel Stephens Championship. Josh Smith hit a home run and tripled driving in four runs. Ivan Cherwinski tripled for Brockville in their first year in the tournament.
