Lamm Post Wins Sixth Annual Joel Stephens Invitational Tournament Championship With a 7-4 Victory Over Camillus

 

MANSFIELD – It was the battle of New York in the Six Annual Joel Stephens Invitational Tournament Championship game with Lamm Post defeating Camillus 7-4 Monday afternoon at Shaute Field.

 

After coming back from four runs down in the semi-finals against Bellefonte, Lamm Post did the same against Camillus who shutout Mansfield 9-0 to reach the finals.

 

Tom Hausler led the way for Lamm Post going the distance in the complete game victory striking out two batters and surrendering four runs.

 

Camillus jumped out to an early 2-1 lead after one inning with Chad King driving in Josh Smith with a one out triple.  King later scored on a sacrifice fly by Chris Botsford. 

 

Lamm Post responded in their half of the third inning scoring two runs off a couple walks and an RBI single by Joe LaPenna.  Lamm would add another two runs in the fourth inning when Todd Negrych hit a two run triple to the gap to give Lamm Post a 5-2 lead.

 

Camillus would cut the lead to 5-4 when Botsford drove a double to the gap scoring two runners.

 

Lamm Post would add a couple insurance runs in the top half of the seventh inning to increase the lead to 7-4.  Camillus would do no further damage as Hausler finished the complete game victory by having Smith popping out to the third baseman Rob Maxwell to end the game.

Josh Palmer Semi-Final (Shaute Fielld)

 

Brandon Fitzwater’s infield ground ball with the bases loaded scored Donny Warner with the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning to lead Bradford County to a 7-6 win over Ontario in the Josh Palmer Runner-up Championship Monday morning at Shaute Field.

 

Bradford County jumped out to a three run lead behind Ramy Ragab’s two-run double. Bradford added another run in the third on an rbi single by Sean Richards.

 

Ontario scored twice in the fourth inning on rbi singles by Sean Abram and Jordan Sporneak. Ortarion then took a 6-4 with four runs in the top of the sixth, three of them coming off a triple by Matt Richardson.

 

Bradford rallied to tie the game at 6-6 with two runs in the bottom of the sixth on singles by Preston Hitchcock and Alex Bowers.

 

Ontario loaded the bases with no outs in the top of the seventh before Curtis Cordeiro entered the game and got the first two batters to pop up before striking out the final batter.

Josh Palmer Championship Game

 

Bradford County held on to defeat Bath in the Josh Palmer Championship game 9-8.

 

Bath jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the second inning with RBI hits by Dan Tunison and Bob Desalvo.  However in Bradford’s half of the third they responded with two runs of their own to tie the game at 2-2.

 

In the bottom of the fourth inning Bradford pulled away scoring four runs to take a 6-2 lead.  Brandon Fitzwater led the inning off with a triple and sacrifice fly by Cory Raupers.  Alex Bowers capped the inning off with an RBI single scoring Preston Hitchcock who doubled in two runs.

 

Bradford would add another three runs in the fifth with back-to-back RBI hits by Fitzwater and Raupers to take a 9-3 lead going into the sixth inning.

 

In the top half of the sixth inning Bath rallied to score five runs and cut the Bradford lead to 9-8. Back-to-back two run doubles by Brandon Wilson and Derek Kiff capped the comeback rally.

 

Bath threatened to score in the top half of the seventh inning but fell short to Bradford County 9-8.
