FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: FOOTBALL LEGACY CLUB DONATES $27,000 FOR FOOTBALL SCHOLARSHIPS -- CLUB HAS RAISED $54,000 IN TWO YEARS

MANSFIELD -- More than 65 members and invited guest of the Mansfield University Football Legacy Club gathered on Sept. 24 for the Second Annual Football Legacy Club Day at Karl Van Norman Field.

Football Legacy Club members were treated to a pregame brunch in the alumi tent on the lawn of interim President Dr. David Werner. Beside enjoying an excellent buffet, the members were entertained by the Pride of Pennsylvania Marching Band and the Mountaineer Cheerleaders.

Head coach Jim Shiffer took a few moments out of his busy pregame schedule to personally thank the members of the Football Legacy Club for the generous donation.

At halftime of the Mountaineers game with Kutztown Football Legacy Club members, including former president and head football coach Rod Kelchner, presented a check for $27,000 to Dr. Werner and Maureen McKenna -- MU's Vice-president of Advancement.

In its two years in existence, the Mansfield Football Legacy Club has raised more than $54,000 for football scholarships.
