FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: CHRIS CUMMINGS WINS TIDEWATER FALL CLASSIC – FRESHMAN TOP FINISHER IN FIELD OF 122

SALISBURY, MD – Freshman Chris Cummings (Mansfield/Mansfield)  stunned the field with a first place finish in the 122 runner Tidewater Fall Classic Saturday at Salisbury, MD.

Cummings posted a mark of 26:10 over the 8k course to finish 11 seconds ahead of Lang Reynols of Swarthmore College. Mansfield finished seventh overall in the men’s team competition.

Josh Wooten was second for the Mountaineers and 27^th overall at 27:44. Benjamin Isreal was 53^rd at 28:49 with Richard Daniels 56^th (28:54). Richard Correll (Mansfield/Mansfield) rounded out Mansfield’s scorers with a time of 30:29 in 82^nd place.

Sophomore Charity Learn (Troy/North Penn) had an excellent outing in her first competition of the season. Learn finished fifth overall with a time of 23:01 over the 6k course. Freshman Rachel Hall was 14^th overall ( 23:39 ) and Kristin Weller 19^th (24:01).  

Theresa Stanford (34^th, 25:07) and Ashley Tierney (36^th, 25:21) rounded out the Mountaineers top five finishers.

The women finished fourth overall in the team competition.
