FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: LEARN SETS NEW 3,000 METER MARK
IN TRI-MEET WITH LOCK HAVEN AND BLOOMSBURG -- CADWELL, REIDER, AND WOOTEN ALSO
SET NEW SCHOOL RECORDS
LOCK HAVEN – Freshman Charity Learn (Troy/North Penn)
set a new school record in the 3,000 meters with a first place finish at a PSAC
tri-meet at Lock Haven Wednesday afternoon.
Learn set a new meet record with a
time of 10:42.34 shattering the previous record of 11:05.5 set by Sherri Cady in
1979. She was 19 seconds faster than her nearest competitor.
Steph Cadwell finished second in the 200 meters
with a time of 27:49 with Amy Kendig second in the javelin with a toss of
27.7 meters. Cadwell also set a new school record in the long jump with a third
place effort of 17' 6-1/2 smashing the old mark of 16' 9-1/4 set by Alicia
Davinsizer in 2000.
The women’s team finished second in the meet behind Lock
Haven with 70 team points.
Nate Reider led the men’s team with second place
finishes in the discus (40.15 meters) and beat his own school record in the
javelin with a toss of 196' 11. Josh Wooten was second in the 3000 meters
with a school record time of 9.12.41.
The men finished third in the meet with 42 team points.
