FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: CHARITY LEARN NAMED PSAC
WOMEN’S TRACK AND FIELD ROOKIE OF THE YEAR
MANSFIELD- Mansfield University freshman standout Charity Learn
(Troy/North Penn) continued to add to her impressive list of honors by
being named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Women’s Track
and Field Rookie of the Year in voting conducted among the heard track and field
coaches.
Learn,
earned her third Rookie of the Year honor for this school year, after being
named to PSAC Women’s Cross Country and PSAC Women’s Indoor Track and Field
rookie honors. In her outdoor
season Learn set new school records in the 1,500 (4:49.91), 3,000 (10:42.34),
5,000 (18:01.05), 10,000 meters (37:25.8), 3,000 steeplechase (11:09.26), and as
a member of the 3200-meter relay team.
She became the first women’s runner in school history to win an event at the
PSAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships when she finished first in the
3,000-meter steeplechase and was a provisional qualifier in both the
steeplechase and the 10,000 meters.
Learn also became the first women’s runner to compete at the NCAA Division II
National Championships when she finished in the top ten in the steeplechase
(11:12.49).
The daughter of Roger and Candise Learn of Troy, Charity also posted a perfect
4.0 as a freshman fisheries major this year.
