FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: CHARITY LEARN BECOMES FIRST
MOUNTAINEER TO CAPTURE PSAC CROWN WITH FIRST PLACE FINISH IN STEEPLECHASE –
JOSH WOOTEN SECOND IN STEEPLECHASE
LOCK HAVEN – Charity Learn (Troy/North Penn)
capped off her extraordinary freshman year by become the first every PSAC
outdoor track and field champion with first place finish in the steeplechase at
the PSAC Championships at Lock Haven University Saturday afternoon.
Learn set a new school record with a first place time of
11:09.26, more than five seconds better than her nearest competitor to
become the Mountaineers first ever PSAC Champion.
“It was an incredible
performance, in an incredible season for an incredible athlete,” head coach
Mike Rohl said.
Josh Wooten just missed become the school’s
second ever PSAC champion by finishing second in the men’s steeplechase with a
time of 9:29.58. He scored all eight of Mansfield’s men’s points in the
championship.
Also placing for the Mountaineers was Stephanie Cadwell
with a fifth place finish in the 800 meters with a time of 2:20.13. She had
earlier broken the school record in the preliminaries with a time of 2:19.17.
Mansfield finished 8th in the men’s overall
competition and 12th in the women’s.
