FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:  KEITH DRUMMOND FINISHES 2^nd IN THE 400-METER DASH AND RACHEL HALL FINISHES 3^rd IN 1,500 METER RUN AT BIG RED INVITATIONAL

ITHICA, N.Y.-  The Mansfield University outdoor track and field team had a successful meet at the Big Red Invitational at Cornell University Sunday afternoon with Keith Drummond (Philadelphia/ Cardinal Dougherty) finishing second overall in the 400-yard dash with a time of 51.96 and Rachel Hall (Jackson) taking third place in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:54.46 qualifying her for the PSACs.

Drummond was not the only Mountaineer to have success in the 400-yard dash.  Jordann Smith (Roslyn, Abington Sr.) finished third overall with a time of 52.86 followed by Adam Keir (Warren Center/Northeast Bradford) who finished with a time of 54.76 for fifth place overall.

In the 1,500-meter run the Mountaineers were led by Chris Saterstad (Hershey/Upper Dauphin Area) who was the first Mansfield runner to finish with a time of 4:20.66 for 10^th place overall.  Ben Israel (Mansfield/Mansfield), Lucas Walker (Lanesboro/Susquehanna Community) and Mark Daniels (Harrisburg) all finished 16th (4:26.52), 17th (4:31.16) and 18th (4:32.35) place respectively.

In the 800-meter run Jon Holtz (Shortsville, N.Y./Manchester-Shortsville) finished with a time of 2:05.08 for a 14^th overall finish.

In the 400-meter hurdle event the Mountaineers had three of the top eight finishers with Chad Woodruff (Waverly N.Y./Waverly) leading the way with a 4^th place finish (59.97).  Mike Yannick (Throop/Mid-Valley) followed with a time of 1:01.99 for a sixth place finish and Noal Bastian (Mansfield/Mansfield) finished eighth overall with a time of 1:02.20.

Jeremy Confer (Danville) took third place overall in the men’s javelin throw with a distance of 48.56.

Over on the women’s side Hall led the way in the 1,500-meter run finishing third overall as five Mansfield runners placed. Charity Learn (Troy) finished with a time of 5:18.98 for 18^th place followed by Robyn Ireland (Cogan Station) who took 21^st overall with a time of 5:28.43.  Kristin Weller (New Milford, CT) and Jenna Phillips (Canandaigua N.Y.) finished 27^th and 28^th respectively with times of 5:33.98 and 5:35.26.

Nicolle Dann (Lucan, Ontario) took 10^th place overall in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:32.20.  Learn also placed in the event finishing 16^th overall with a time of 2:55.99.

The Mountaineers had three top ten finishers in the 3,000-meter run with Ashley Tierney (Hallstead/Blue Ridge) leading the way with a time of 12:36.1 for an 8^th place finish.  Amanda Kendrick (Tioga/Williamson) and Amy Young (Wexford) finishing 9^th and 10^th with times of 12:42.2 and 13:09.6
