RELEASE DATE: 1/12/10 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Brenae Edwards named PSAC Women’s Indoor Runner of the Week – Junior wins 3000 meters at Bucknell in school record time MANSFIELD – Mansfield University standout Brenae Edwards (Hazleton/Hazleton) has need selected as the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Women’s Indoor Track Runner of the Week for her record-breaking performance at the Golden Flash Gala at Kent State and the Gulden Invitational at Bucknell University. Edwards got the new season started off on the right foot at the Golden Flash Gala with an NCAA Division II provisional qualifying time of 17:10.23 in the 5000 meter run, which is second in Division II and broke the previous Mansfield record of 17:35.59 by more than 25 seconds in finishing second overall. She followed that effort up with another record breaking day at the Gulden Relays at Bucknell University Saturday afternoon, in her first competition of the New Year Edwards won the 3000 meter run in a school record time of 10:12.93 surpassing the previous best by almost eight seconds. She also earned PSAC qualifying spots in the Distance Medley Relay and 4x800. Her DMR team finished second overall with a time of 12:25.37 while the 4x800 team was sixth with a time of 10:12.72. ###
