FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Brenae Edwards Runs to a Second Place Finish in Paul Short Invite
LEHIGH: Junior Brenae Edwards ran 21:25 on the 6K course in Lehigh to take second place at the Paul Short Invitational Friday afternoon to help the women's cross country team take an overall 21st place.
“Brenae is getting close to the fastest time at one of these meets set by Charity Learn,” head coach Mike Rohl said. The top six runners competed today for the women's team. Freshman Kait Chegwiden (23:08) finished second for Mansfield followed by fellow freshman Becky Kratz (23:41). Other top performances included senior Clarissa Cummings (24:18), freshman Bethany Coons (24:28) and junior Irene Primmer (25:48).
The Mountaineer men finished in 35th place with Bud Plaszenski (26:41) and Nathan McNabb (26:46) leading the pack as Plaszenski took 116th place and McNabb took 129th place. The other top scorers for Mansfield were junior Sean Vollenweider (27:22), freshman Chris Hakes (27:40), sophomore Kevin Cusworth (28:20) and junior Joe Stanek (29:05).
The rest of the Mountaineer Cross-country field will take a trip to Geneseo, NY to compete at Letchworth State Park tomorrow at 11am.
