RELEASE DATE: 10/21/09 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Mansfield cross country teams jump back into regional top 10 rankings MANSFIELD – The Mansfield University men’s and women’s cross country teams have jumped back into the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional Top 10 ranks after posting solid performances over the past couple of weeks. The Mountaineer women, led by junior Brenae Edwards who won last weekend’s Yellowjacket Invitational in Rochester, are ranked No. 9 in this week’s W.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association poll. Mansfield last appeared in the top ten in the preseason poll. The young Mountaineer men are ranked No. 10 in the region and have been led for most of the season by freshman Bud Plaszenski. The Mountaineer men also last appeared in the top ten in the preseason poll. Mansfield travels to Elizabethtown this Saturday before competing at the PSAC Championship in two weeks. Mansfield will host the NCAA Atlantic Region Championship on Nov. 7 at Lamb’s Creek.
