FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Mansfield cross country men’s and women’s teams named to USTFCCCA All-Academic Team honors

MANSFIELD – The Mansfield University men’s and women’s 2009 cross country teams have both earned All-Academic Team honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

For a team to be considered for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team award, they must have competed and compiled a team score at an NCAA Regional Championship and also have a minimum 3.00 team cumulative GPA.

The Mountaineer men were one of 62 team across the country who meet USTFCCCA All-Academic Team criteria by scoring in the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional held in Mansfield in November and combining for a team GPA of 3.12.

The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) had the most team qualify for All-Academic Team honors of any conference in the nation. Mansfield finished fifth highest in team GPA of the 11 PSAC schools.

The Mountaineer women were one of 102 NCAA Division II programs across the country to earn USTFCCCA All-Academic team recognition.

The Mansfield women also recorded the fifth-best cumulative GPA of the 13 PSAC schools that earned the honor with a 3.52 team GPA.
