RELEASE DATE: 1/17/09 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Mike Gray wins shot put and weight throw at RIT Invitational ROCHESTER, NY – Mike Gray won the shot put and the weight throw at the RIT Invitational Saturday afternoon. Gray continued his impressive performances this season with a toss of 52-03.25 in the shot and 51-08.50 in the weight throw beating his next closest rival by more than three feet in the shot put and five feet in the weight throw. Also scoring high for Mansfield was Brenae Edwards with a second place showing in the women’s mile run (5:24.23) while Justen Johnson finished second in the men’s triple jump (43-10.75). Josh Bucoir was third in the 55 meter dash (6.72) and also finished fourth in the 200 meters (23.86). Brooke McDaniel was third in the women’s 400 (62.17). Irene Primmer took fourth in the 1000 meters (3:16.90) as did Nate McNabb in the men’s 3000 (8:59.18) and Erica Ferguson in the women’s long jump (16-07.75) and placed sixth in the 400 (64.60). Other Mountaineers placing in the top eight included Sean Vollenweider (fifth in the 3000 – 8:59.99) and Henry Potter who was sixth in the 500 (70.31). Abbe Waltz was seventh in the 55 hurdles (9.77) and Craig Barber was seventh in the pole vault (12-11). Anastacia Canfield tied for seventh in the women’s high jump (4-09.75). Scoring points with eighth place showings were Janelle Toter in the 55 (8.01) and 200 (28.27), Carly Klinger in the 400 (65.30), and Chris Bogenschultz in the 5000 (16:48.48). ###
