RELEASE DATE: 4/27/08 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Ryan Detwiler and Erica Ferguson set school records at Cornell Big Red Invitational ITHACA,NY – Ryan Detwiler (Liberty/Liberty) and Erica Ferguson (Yeadon) set school records in the high jump and long jump and Mike Gray (Elmira,NY/Horseheads) and Victor Garcia (Champbersburg/Mcalester) won the discus and 800 meters at the Cornell Big Red Invitational Sunday afternoon. Detwiler, who has only been high jumping for nine weeks, broke the record he shared with Randy Abrams (1988) of 6-7. Detwiler broke that mark with a leap of 6-9 ¾ to finish second overall. It was also a provisional qualify effort for the NCAA Division II National Championship. Ferguson broke the record held by her head coach Steph Cadwell of 17-6 ½ set in 2003 with a 18-1.75 effort in the long jump to finish seventh overall. Gray won the discus with a toss 50.83 meters while Garcia captured the 800 with a time of 1:54.19.
