RELEASE DATE: 1/30/07 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Dave Sanford Named PSAC Male Runner of the Week – Junior Breaks School 800 Record with First Place Finish at Penn State National Invitational MANSFIELD – Mansfield University standout Dave Sanford (Mifflinville/Central Columbia) has been named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Male Runner of the Week for his record breaking performance at the Penn State National Invitational. “Dave certainly deserves the honor,” said head coach Mike Rohl. “His performance at Penn State was exceptional. Dave’s a hard working athlete who’s extremely coach-able and is as mentally tough as the best runners I’ve coached.” Sanford won the 800-meter run with a school record time of 1:53.97 beating Kyle Rauser of Maryland and 17 other Division I runners in the 25-man field. Sanford’s time broke the school record of 1:56.45 set by Chris Cummings in 2006 and is good enough to give him a NCAA National provisional qualifying standard.
