FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Charity Walker Sets New 5000 Record in Shamrock Invitational at Coastal Carolina

CONWAY, SC – Charity (Learn) Walker set a new school record in the 5,000 and freshman Jess Lown set new school marks in the 100 and 400 hurdles to highlight the efforts of the Mansfield University track and field team at the final day of the Shamrock Invitational Saturday afternoon at Coastal Carolina University.

Walker finished second overall in the 5,000 with a time of 17:58.59 breaking her own record of 18:01.05 set in 2003. Lown posted a mark of 16.40 in the 100 meters bettering Kelly Maines record of 16:42 set in 2000 while also setting a new standard in the 400 hurdles with a time of 60.21 breaking Steph Cadwell’s 1:08.97 2003 record.

Freshman Marisa Fronczkiewicz qualified for the PSAC Championship in the 200 and 400 meters with times of 26.42 and 60.21 respectively. Nicole Dann also earned a PSAC qualifying time of 2:21.99 in the 800 meters.

Bryan Morseman took third place overall in the 3000 with a PSAC qualifying time of 8:31.69
