RELEASE DATE: 3/17/06 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Chris Cummings Wins 3,000 Meters at Coastal Carolina’s Shamrock Invitational Conway, SC – Chris Cummings shattered the school record with a first-place finish in the 3,000 meters at the Coastal Carolina Shamrock Invitational Friday afternoon. Cummings bested a mostly NCAA Division I field of 24 teams with a winning time of 8:31.62, out kicking a runner from American University over the final 200 yards of the race. Bryan Confer qualified for the PSAC Championship in the javelin with a toss of 187-7 while Adam Kier qualified for the conference championship in the decathlon with 5,096 points. On the women’s side, Nicole Dann became a PSAC qualifier in the 3,000 finishing in 6th place with a time of 10:50.12. It was the third fastest time in school history. The Shamrock Invitational concludes Saturday.
