RELEASE DATE: 2/4/06 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Jess Lown Breaks 60 hurdles record twice at Cornell Invitational Ithaca,NY – Freshman Jess Lown broke the school record in the 60 meter hurdles during preliminaries and then broke it again in the finals with a third place time of 9.70 at the Cornell Invitational Saturday afternoon. Lown also finished third in the 200 with a time of 27.96. Fellow freshman Marisa Fronczkiewicz took first in
the 400 meters with a time of 1:02.65 just ahead of teammate Amber Hamlin who took second (1:02.99). Despite nursing an injury, Katrina Brumfield was third in the high jump (5-01.25) being edged out for second place on misses. Nicole Dann turned in the second fastest mile in school history finishing fifth overall (5:23.37) the first time she ever ran the mile in competition. The 4 x 400 relay team of Fronczkiewicz, Hamlin, Lown and Dann finished second (4:13.02). On the men’s side, Chris Cummings was edged out by ½ a second in the mile finishing second with a time of 4:25.72. Bryan Morseman was third (4:25.10). Matt Zimmerman was second in the 1000 meters (2:48.38) followed by Zeb Dunn (2:48.86). Jon Holtz qualified for the PSAC Championship in the 800 meters with a fourth place time of 2:00.57. Bryan Morseman was seventh and Chris Cummings eighth. Tom Duer took fifth in the shot put (41-05.00)
