RELEASE DATE: 10/2/05 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: CUMMINGS AND LEARN WIN TIDEWATER FALL CLASSIC – MU WOMEN WIN TEAM EVENT SALISBURY, MD – Chris Cummings won the men’s race and Charity Learn took first in the women’s race at the Tidewater Invitational in Salisbury, MD Saturday afternoon. Learn lead the Mountaineer women to a runaway win in the women’s event with 25 points, 22 points better than runner up East Stroudsburg in the eight team event. Learn finished the 6k run in a time of 21:23, six seconds ahead of second place finisher Vanessa Andes of East Stroudsburg. The Mountaineers Rachel Hall finished third (22:05), Tricia Learn fifth (22:36), Clarissa Correll seventh and Heather Wida 10th as Mansfield took five of the top 10 spots. Cummings breezed to a 30 second win over East Stroudsburg’s Iuri Pinto to capture the men’s race with a time of 24:47 over the 8k course. Bryan Morseman finished 10th at (26:06) to lead the Mountaineer men to a sixth place finish in the nine team field.
