RELEASE DATE: 10/25/05 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: MOUNTIES SWEEP PSAC WEEKLY CROSS COUNTRY AWARDS – CHRIS CUMMINGS AND RACHEL HALL NAMED MEN’S AND WOMEN’S RUNNERS OF THE WEEK MANSFIELD – Mansfield University cross country standouts Chris Cummings (Mansfield/Mansfield) and Rachel Hall (Blue Ridge/New Milford) were named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Runners of the Week for their outstanding performances at the College Track Championship (CTC) meet last Saturday. It marked the second time this season the Mountaineers have swept the weekly PSAC cross country honors and the second time Cummings has been honored. Cummings, who will be attending Penn State next season as part of Mansfield’s engineering program, took first place honors in the men’s race in his final regular season competition as a Mountaineer. Despite wet and muddy conditions, Cummings finished the 8k course in a time of 26:40, besting the field of 126 runners and finishing more than 12 seconds better than the second place runner. Hall was second in the 112 runner women’s race with a time of 19:22.63 over the 5k course. The junior finished behind a runner from NCAA Division I Hofstra in helping the Mountaineer women to the team title. Cummings and Hall will join the rest of their Mountaineer teammates this Saturday when they travel to Slippery Rock for the PSAC Cross Country Championship.
