FOR IMMEDAITE RELEASE: MANSFIELD SOCCER DEFEATS JUNIATA COLLEGE IN 2003 SEASON OPENER

  MANSFIELD – The Mounties defeat Juniata College with a score of 2-0 in its 2003 season opener.  Last season Mansfield suffered a 3-1 loss against Juniata College.  An aggressive offense and solid defense prove key for the Mountaineers in win against the Eagles.

  Only for minutes into the first period, Freshman Erin Drum (Hollidaysburg/Hollidaysburg) scored the first goal with help from Sophomore Jamie Heller (Canton/Troy) and Senior Val Shaw (Harrisburg/Central Dauphin East).

  In the second period Sophomore Megan Colby (Lancaster/Conestoga Valley) scored the Mounties’ second goal.  Freshmen Vanessa Wengen (Hunlock Creek/Lake Lehman) and Erin Drum assisted Colby.  This game marks the first career shutout for Sophomore goalie, Julie Miller (Watkins Glenn, NY/Watkins Glen).

  The next game for the Mountaineers is September 2, when they travel to Lycoming College for a 4:30pm game.
