– Celebrating their first homecoming weekend, Mansfield
University
women’s soccer team shutout Clarion
University
3-0.
Sophomore Erica
Madden (Turbotville/Warrior Run) got the Mounties on the board when she
scored an unassisted goal at the 36:53 mark of the first half. The defense of both teams held their respective offenses in check for the
rest of the first half.
In the second half, sophomore Jamie Heller (Canton/Troy)
scored her first two goals of the season sealing the victory for the Mounties. Freshman goalie Nicole
Rodweller (Easton/Easton) had six saves for the Mountaineers, who faced
a total 12 shots from Clarion.
With this win, Mansfield’s record improves to 2-7-2
overall and 2-6 in the PSAC. Clarion
falls to
3-8-0, 0-5 in the PSAC. The Mounties’
next game is October 11th when they host East
Stroudsburg
University
at
4pm.
