FALLS
TO EDINBORO 2-1 IN DOUBLE OT
EDINBORO—The Mansfield University
Women’s soccer dropped a hard fought double overtime match to Edinboro
University, 2-1 Saturday afternoon at
Edinboro.
Sophomore Jamie
Heller (Canton/Troy) made good on her only shot of the afternoon,
putting
Mansfield
up 1-0 midway through the first half. The
unassisted goal was Heller’s fifth
of the season.
Edinboro’s Jamie Tekotte would tie the score at the 65:15 mark of the second
half.
After a scoreless first overtime period, Tekotte would strike again for the
winning goal on an assist from Carrie Vance.
Mansfield’s freshman goalkeeper Nicole Rodweller (Easton/Easton)
made 14 saves while playing all 108 minutes. The Mounties were out shot 25-8.
The Mountaineer’s record falls to
4-9-2, 2-8-0
while Edinboro improves to 11-6-1, 6-4-1
.
Mansfield
will celebrate their first Senior Day, honoring
the team’s first graduating senior Valerie
Shaw (Harrisburg/Central Dauphin East) when they host Kutztown on
October 28 at 3 p.m.
