Mansfield
– Mansfield University will add women’s soccer to its athletic programs and
has selected Tim Dempsey to build the program as head coach.
The
announcements were made today by MU’s Director of Athletics Roger Maisner.
“It’s
a great day for Mansfield University athletics,” Maisner said. “We’re
excited to add women’s soccer to our athletic program and consider ourselves
fortunate to have someone of the caliber of Tim Dempsey to lead the program.”
Dempsey is anxious to get the program off the ground.
“I’ve very pleased to be responsible for building a women’s soccer program
at Mansfield University, “ said Dempsey. “I’ve already started the process
of finding players on campus and plan on spending a lot of time getting to know
the area high school programs and players. It’s my goal to make the women’s
soccer program at Mansfield something the players and the school can be proud
of.”
Dempsey
comes to Mansfield from Green Mountain College in Vermont where he served as the
head women’s soccer and women’s basketball coach since 1989.
Over that span, Dempsey led the Eagles to 11 conference championships in 12
