FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Mansfield Women’s Soccer sponsors Red Card Cancer this Saturday
MANSFIELD – The Mansfield University women’s soccer program and head coach Tim Dempsey will join other Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) soccer programs this coming Saturday in an effort to Red Card Cancer.
The promotion is designed to raise funds for the fight against cancer while also enhancing awareness of the toll the disease has taken in the soccer community. It was created by Bloomsburg head men’s soccer coach Paul Payne.
The Mountaineer players will wear specially designed Red Card Cancer t-shirts during pregame warm-ups that feature the Red Card Caner logo. A collection will be taken during the game for the American Cancer Society.
In addition, the Mansfield women’s soccer program will donate $200 for their annual tennis ball race fund-raiser to the American Cancer Society as part of the promotion.
“We’re pleased to be able to join other members of our conference to help support finding a cure for cancer,” said Dempsey. “We encourage our players to become involved in our community and this is certainly a cause that benefits all of us.”
Mansfield will host West Chester during Saturday’s promotion starting at 1:30 p.m. Admission is free.
