FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Women’s soccer reports to preseason camp on Sunday – new press box and in ground sprinkler system installed this summer
MANSFIELD – The 2008 edition of the Mansfield University women’s soccer team will begin their quest for a PSAC playoff berth when they report to preseason camp this Sunday, August 10.
Twenty-three student athletes will vie for starting spots during the preseason schedule before the team opens the 2008 campaign at Goldey Beacom College on Thursday, August 28.
Head Coach Tim Dempsey will enter his seventh season at the helm of the program welcoming 23 players on Sunday with the first practice scheduled for Monday.
Leading the way will be seniors Lyndi Keiser, Kaytlen Robinson and Justine Segear. All three were starters last season with Keiser, the program’s all-time leading scorer, earning All-PSAC East honors for the second straight season.
The seniors will be joined by returning juniors Brittany Lauck and Katie Parsnik along with sophomores Samantha DeLiere, Kelsey Gelina, Jackie Karlovich, and Karlie Nester. The incoming class includes 12 freshmen and two transfers.
Improvements continue throughout the summer at the soccer field with an in ground sprinkler system already installed and a press box scheduled to be completed before the start of the season making it one of the top soccer-only facilities in the PSAC.
Mansfield will compete in the PSAC East with Bloomsburg, East Stroudsburg, Kutztown, Millersville, Shippensburg, and West Chester with the top four teams earning a playoff berth against the top four teams in the PSAC West (California, Clarion, Edinboro, Gannon, IUP, Lock Haven, Mercyhurst, Slippery Rock).
The Mountaineers first home game is set for Sept. 3 against Bloomsburg.
