FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Dempsey pleased with early camp
MANSFIELD – The unseasonable cool weather early in the week seemed to agree with the Mansfield University women’s soccer team after the first couple of days of preseason camp.
The players have been going through condition and skill drills during early camp three-a-days while breaking into an intra-squad scrimmage in the evening.
“So far so good,” said head coach Tim Dempsey as he prepares his team for the programs seventh season. “For the most part, everyone reported to camp in good shape so we’ve been able to accomplish some things early. I see that we have a good mix already between the veterans and newcomers.”
With a roster of 22 players, Dempsey expects to have more depth as well as be more athletic going into an Aug. 24th home scrimmage with Wilkes University.
Mansfield returns seven starters from last year’s team including leading scorer and All-PSAC forward Lyndi Keiser. Other returning starters include defenders Katie Parsnik , Brittany Lauck, Kelsey Gelina along with midfielders Kaytlen Robinson and Jackie Karlovich. Senior Justine Segear also returns as the starting goalie from last year.
