FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Mounties Suffer Shutout Loss at Cadwell College

CALDWELL, NJ – Mansfield held a 18-8 advantage in shots, but the Mountaineers couldn’t put the ball in the goal in suffering a 2-0 setback at Caldwell College Sunday afternoon.

The Mountaineers carried the game early taking the first three shots of the game and holding a 8-3 shot advantage at a scoreless halftime.

Caldwell’s Carla Bleiler scored the game’s first goal in the 67th minute on a shot from 25 yards out.

Mansfield missed left on a shot by Lyndi Keiser and a header by Colleen Corcoran before a header by Victoria Aguilera in the 74th minute put the game out of reach.

The Mountaineer continued to press, getting off seven shots in the final 15 minutes but could not score.

Justine Segear was credited with three saves for Mansfield while Richelle Morse had five saves for Caldwell.

Mansfield falls to 1-7 overall while Caldwell improves to 4-3.

The Mountaineers travel to Millersville on Thursday.
