RELEASE DATE: 9/5/06 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Soccer Falls 2-0 at Bloomsburg BLOOMSBURG -- The Mansfield University women's soccer team suffered a 2-0 defeat in a night game at Bloomsburg University Tuesday night. The loss marks the fourth straight of the season as the Mountaineers search for their first victory.
The Huskies got on the board in the 44th minute of the first half when Aimee Bono scored an unassisted goal to send Bloomsburg into half-time with a 1-0 advantage. The tough defense of the Mountaineers remained strong in the second half before Suzie Wade punched the final goal of the contest with only one minute remaining. "The girls played solid tonight," said Dempsey. "It's a tough loss to take but we are improving with every game." The Huskies dominated the shot column of the scoresheet, out-shooting Mansfield 21-6. Bloomsburg also held a 5-3 advantage on corner kicks. Justine Segear recorded five saves in the net for the Mountaineers while Colleen Corcoran, Lyndi Keiser, and Anita Valerio each recorded shots on goal. The Mountaineers are now 0-4 overall on the season with a 0-3 start to PSAC East play. Mansfield is back in action Thursday, September 7th when they travel to Lock Haven for a PSAC crossover contest. That game is schedule to begin at 4:00 pm.
