RELEASE DATE: 10/22/06 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Soccer Earns 2-0 Shutout on Senior Day MANSFIELD -- Lyndi Keiser scored twice as the Mountaineers closed out the season on senior day with a 2-0 shutout victory over Millersville. The cloudy and cold weather couldn't keep spirits down at The Soccer Field on Sunday afternoon as coach Dempsey and the Mountaineer women honored senior captains Desiree Boris and Vanessa Wengen. With the largest crowd of the year on hand, Mansfield dominated the stat sheet to earn a 2-0 shutout over Millersville for the second time this season. The Mountaineers outshot the Marauders in the first half but narrowly missed scoring chances, sending the game into halftime at a 0-0 tie. Scoring began in the fifth minute of the second half when Lyndi Keiser chipped the ball into the right corner of the goal off an assist from Robyn Travisano and a corner kick by Kim Pachuta. Keiser would add another goal in the 79th minute on a perfectly executed cross from Caroline Furmato to put the Mounties on top for good. Mansfield outshot Millersville 20-9 with only one of the nine shots being a shot on goal. Justine Segear picked up the shutout with one save. It was her second shutout over Millersville on the season. The Mountaineers finish the season at 5-11-2 overall and 3-7-2 in the PSAC East.
