FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Corcoran Doubles Up In Mountaineer Loss

MANSFIELD -- Colleen Corcoran scored two goals Saturday afternoon against Kutztown but the Mountaineers fell 5-2 in the PSAC East match-up.

Things got off on the wrong foot for Mansfield as Kutztown scored the game's first goal in the first minute of play. Raven Chiara chipped the ball passed Justine Segear at the :35 second mark to put the Golden Bears on top.

Kim Kelty would add another goal for Kutztown in the seventh minute and Michelle Flick added another in the 40th minute to put Kutztown up 3-0.

Mansfield got on the board in the 43rd minute when Colleen Corcoran deflected a shot off the Kutztown keeper into the back of the net for her first goal of the season, and the 12th of her career.

The Mountaineers trailed 3-1 at halftime with momentum swinging their way.

Kutztown benefited from the halftime rest as they came out scoring early in the second half again. Angela Corrado added to the Golden Bear lead in the second minute of the half while Kim Kelty scored her second goal of the game in the seventh minute of the second half.

Corcoran blasted a shot from 15 yards out over Kutztown's keeper for her second goal of the game. She now has 13 career goals, adding to her career scoring record.

"We just got off on the wrong foot at the beginning of each half," said coach Dempsey. "We played well after we settled in."

Mansfield held the scoring advantage for the first time of the season outshooting Kutztown 21-18. Justine Segear recorded 9 saves in the loss.

The Mountaineers move to 0-6 overall on the season and 0-4 in the PSAC East while Kutztown moves to 3-1-2 overall and 2-0-1 in the East. Mansfield is back in action Wednesday September 13th when they host East Stroudsburg in a PSAC East match-up at the Soccer Field.
