FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: WOMEN’S SOCCER REBOUNDS WITH 3-1 OVER SHIPPENSBURG – Vanessa Wengen, Lyndi Keiser and Colleen Corcoran Each Score

MANSFIELD – Vanessa Wengen, Lyndi Keiser and Colleen Corcoran each scored a goal to help Mansfield to a 3-1 win over Shippensburg in a PSAC East women’s soccer game Saturday afternoon.

“Our two forwards (Keiser and Corcoran) did a great job of winning balls and getting behind their backs with their speed," said head coach Tim Dempsey.  "Colleen really had a strong game all afternoon.”

Shippensburg scored first breaking a scoreless tie on a goal by Kristen McGoldrick thirty minutes into the first half.

Venessa Wengen beat the goalkeeper with a shot into the lower lefthand side of the net off a penalty kick to tie the score at 1-1 with nine minutes remaining in the first half.

Lyndi Keiser put the Mountaineers up for good when she took a pass from Kaytlen Robinson and one touched a shot from 16 yards beating the keeper to the lower right.

Colleen Corcoran put the game out of reach when she won the ball 40 yards away from the goal and outraced the defender and put a chip shot about the keeper when she came out to challenge.

Julie Miller had twelve stops in goal.

It marks the first win for the Mountaineers over a PSAC East rival since going to divisional play last year.

The Mountaineers, who lost their first game of the season at West Chester three days again, rebounded to improve to 3-1-1 and will host Juniata on Thursday.
