FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: MOUNTAINEERS SHUT OUT BY KUTZTOWN

MANSFIELD -- The Mountaineer soccer team had two shots on goal from Amy Dominick and Julie Miller recorded 11 saves as Kutztown shut out Mansfield 2-0 on a cold and wet Saturday afternoon.

Kutztown scored early in the game on two unassisted goals. In the 20^th minute, Jeannine Bria scored her first goal of the season for the Golden Bears.

Five minutes later, Kutztown’s Kim Kelty added an unassisted goal to give her two for the season. Kelty and Bria both had five shots on the afternoon.

The Mountaineers only managed three shots on goal in each half of the game. Kutztown started the game by taking five shots on goal in the first half. Even though they did not score in the second half, Kutztown took 11 shots in the second half.

Defensively, Miller had 10 of her 11 saves during the second half of the game. Kutztown’s Nicole Rodweller recorded two saves in each half.

With the win, Kutztown improves their record to 11-6 overall and 8-3 in the PSAC. Mansfield falls to 6-7-4 overall and 2-7-3 in conference play.

Mansfield hosts East Stroudsburg on Tuesday.
