FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: MOUNTIES BATTLE EAST STROUDSBURG TO 0-0 TIE IN DOUBLE OVERTIME

MANSFIELD – Mansfield University and East Stroudsburg battled to a 0-0 tie in double overtime in a PSAC East contest Wednesday afternoon.

As has been the case over the past four games, the Mountaineer defense played outstanding but the offense just could not score. Junior Julie Miller played the entire game in goal for Mansfield with 11 saves.

Colleen Corcoran gave the Mountaineers their best scoring shot midway through the first half but her kick went just over the crossbar.

Junior Megan Colby almost ended the game in the first overtime, but her shot went just wide.

East Stroudsburg held a 17-6 advantage in shots on goal.

The tie snaps an eight game losing steak for the Mountaineers who go to 2-8-1 overall and 0-6-1 in the PSAC East. East Stroudsburg is now 5-5-1 and 2-2-1.

The Mountaineers will host West Chester on Saturday.
