FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:  Strong Defensive Effort is not enough for Mounties; Bloomsburg heads home with 3-1 victory

MANSFIELD-  The Mansfield Women’s soccer team knew they have to put forth a strong defensive effort to have a chance heading into Saturdays home contest against Bloomsburg. The Mountaineers did put forth that effort holding the Huskies to two goals until the waning seconds of the game.  However, Mansfield could not provide enough offense in the end falling to Bloomsburg 3-1.  The Mansfield team was without their leading scorer Colleen Corcoran (Allentown/Central Catholic), who was sidelined with an injury.

After Bloomsburg took a 2-0 lead early in the second half, Freshman Quna Harper (Elmira, NY, Elmira Free Academy) cut the lead in half when she drilled her 1st collegiate goal at the 69 minute mark. Junior Goalkeeper Julie Miller (Watkins Glenn, NY/Watkins Glenn) would hold the score there until Bloomsburg netted a goal with 4 seconds remaining to set the final at 3-1.  Miller had a solid day in goal for the Mountaineers recording 14 saves.

Bloomsburg raises it's record to 2-1 while Mansfield falls to 2-3 on the season and will travel to Kutztown on Tuesday for a 4pm contest.
