FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: LYCOMING RALLIES IN SECOND HALF TO DOWN MOUNTIES 82-75 – TAGLIAFERRI AND RIEDER EACH RECORD DOUBLE-DOUBLE

WILLIAMSPORT – Lycoming College rallied from a 45-33 halftime deficit to stun Mansfield University 82-75 in college women’s basketball at Lamade Gym Sunday afternoon.

Mansfield seemed to be in control of the game in the first half, but Lycoming was deadly from the free throw line in the second half connecting on 15-18 attempts and 24-of-30 for the game. The Mountaineers, which held a 46-38 rebounding advantage, managed to hit three-of-five free throws in the second half and 14-of-24 for the game.

Mansfield held a 75-71 led when Alison Tagliaferri hit a layup with 1:39 remaining, but Lycoming would make all eight free throw attempts and force four turnovers in the final 1:29 to pull out the win.

Stephanie Rieser led four Mansfield players in double figures with 13 points while Rachel Rieder and Alison Tagliaferri each recorded double-double with 12 points apiece and 17 and 12 rebounds respectively. Freshman Jessica Uhrich scored 10 points

Mindy Culp led Lycoming with 17 points.

Mansfield falls to 3-5 overall while Lycoming improves to 3-1.

The Mountaineers, who have played six of their first eight games on the road, travel to Houghton College on Tuesday.
