RELEASE DATE: 1/23/10 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Mountie women can’t overcome halftime deficit in 60-49 loss at West Chester WEST CHESTER – Mallory Moore and Mallory Hafer combined for 31 points, but it wouldn’t be enough to overcome a halftime deficit as the Mansfield women dropped a 60-49 decision to West Chester in a PSAC East match-up at Hollinger Field House Saturday afternoon. Leading 8-7, West Chester went on a 10-0 run five minutes into the game and lead by as much as 32-16 with 1:56 remaining in the half before Mansfield closed the gap to 32-18 with a jumper by Emma Lacy. West Chester extended its lead to 42-22 five minutes into the second half before Mansfield went on a 23-7 run in the next eight minutes, cutting the lead to 49-43 with seven minutes of play remaining. But Mansfield could not pull closer and fell to 0-4 in PSAC East play. Moore led the Mountaineers in scoring with 16 points and pulled down six rebounds. Hafer scored 15 points, all coming off of five 3-pointers. Hafer moved within five 3-pointers of tying Alicia Espigh’s school record of 172 3-pointers. Tegan Atallah added 7 points while pulling down 9 rebounds. West Chester (12-5), 2-2 PSAC East, was led by Allison Hostetter with 17 points and Janelle Garber with 13 points.
