FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Mountaineer women host Penn College in only home game of Fall Semester – Mountaineer women’s swimming to be honored as Pennsylvania State Special Olympic Team of the Year at halftime

MANSFIELD – The Mansfield University women’s basketball team will host Penn College on Monday evening in the Mountaineers only home game of the Fall Semester.

Tip off is set for 7 p.m.

 It also marks Mansfield University Employee Appreciation Night with all MU employees and a guest admitted for free with their MU ID.

The Mansfield University women’s swimming program will also be honored by Pennsylvania Special Olympics as the 2008 Pennsylvania State Team of the Year Award for the programs ongoing support of Tioga County Special Olympics.

It is the highest honor any professional or college team can achieve from Special Olympics in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and will be presented at halftime by members of the Tioga County Special Olympics.

The Mountaineers are 1-1 on the season after splitting a pair of games at the Bloomsburg Classic in the opening weekend of the 2008-09 season. Mansfield dropped the opener 71-56 to CW Post before rebounding with a 65-58 win over Chestnut Hill.

Freshman Mallory Moore has been the team’s leading scorer in each of the first two games and is averaging 14.5 points per game so far this season.

Senior Courtney Brooks is averaging 9.0 points per outing and junior Mallory Hafer 7.0 points per game.

Penn College is 4-3 on the year after suffering a 104-71 setback at Lock Haven.
