FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Edinboro big first half dooms Mansfield women in first game of 2009

EDINBORO – Edinboro’s Kelsey Conklin scored 22 of her game-high 23 points in the first half in a 88-65 win over Mansfield in a PSAC crossover game Saturday afternoon at McComb Fieldhouse.

Edinboro (6-4) raced out to an 18-3 lead in the first five minutes of the game with with Conklin scoring 11 of those points. Edinboro increased its lead to 55-26 at halftime.

Mansfield committed a season high 29 turnovers but did shoot 43.3% from the floor, their second-best effort of the season.

Clarissa Correll led the Mountaineers in scoring with 13 points with senior Alicia Espigh adding a season high 12 points, hitting 4-6 of her 3-point attempts. Freshman Nicole Pender scored seven points while fellow freshman Mallory Moore had four points along with a game high 12 rebounds.

In addition to Conklin’s 23 points, Samantha Reimer scored 19 points and Renee Brown 11 for Edinboro.

Mansfield travels to Lock Haven Sunday for a 1 p.m. start.
