RELEASE DATE: 2/25/09 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Late run sinks Mounties in 75-63 loss at Bloomsburg BLOOMSBURG – Bloomsburg went on a 14-5 run over the final four minutes of the game to pull out a 75-63 PSAC East win over Mansfield Wednesday night. Except for the final four minutes, the game was close throughout with 11 ties and six lead changes in the first half alone until Bloomsburg took a 39-36 lead into halftime. Mansfield used a 12-5 over the first five minutes of the second half, capped off by a layup by Teagan Atallah, to build a 48-44 advantage. But Bloomsburg came right back taking a 52-50 lead three minutes later on a layup by Colleen Kegerreis. Mansfield retook the lead 55-53 on a pair of free throws by Alicia Espigh before the tide shifted again with Bloomsburg hold a 61-58 advantage with just under five minutes to play. Mansfield was held without a field goal over the next three minutes until Katie Akins hit a jumper with 1:20 remaining snapping an 11-1 Bloomsburg run. Bloomsburg held a 37-23 rebounding advantage and hit 15-18 free throws in the second half. Mansfield was led by freshmen Mallory Moore and Nicole Pender who each scored 15 with all of Moore’s points coming in the first half. Atallah added a season-high 10 points and pulled down four rebounds. Clarissa Correll scored eight points with four steals. Bloomsburg was led Kegerries with a game-high 20 points shooting a perfect 8-8 from the floor and pulling down 10 rebounds. Kelsey Gallagher added 19 points. Mansfield will close out the 2008-09 season by hosting Millersville this Saturday in Decker Gymnasium.
