Game Statistics

MANSFIELD – Alicia Espigh scored a game-high 16 points to top four Mountaineers in double figures to help lead Mansfield to a 65-55 win over Dowling in a non-conference women’s basketball game at Decker Gymnasium Sunday afternoon.

“It was a pretty nice win,” said head coach Ruth Hermansen. “Especially considering we were a little short handed. We did a nice job of limiting our turnover and we answered everyone of their runs.”

Dowling took it’s only lead of the afternoon scoring the game’s first points before Mansfield opened a 20-8 lead in the first ten minutes capping off a 10-2 run on a 3-pointer by Espigh. The Mountaineers led 30-19 with 3:03 left in the first half before Dowling went on an 8-2 run to pull to 30-27 at halftime.

Espigh scored 10 of her points in the first half.

The Mountaineers maintained a 38-35 lead after the first six minutes of the second half before going on a 16-5 run over the next seven minute to taking a 54-40 advantage on a pair of free throws by Espigh.

The score never got closer than an eight point Mansfield lead for the rest of the game.

Joining Espigh in scoring in double figures were Courtney Brooks and Clarissa Correll each with 11 points. Brooks also had seven assists with six steals while Correll was credited with six assists and five steals. Emily Akins scored 10 points to go along with a team-best six rebounds.

Molly Tubridy led Dowling (1-3) with 14 points.

It was the first win of the season for Mansfield (1-1).
