FAIRMONT, WV – Alicia Espigh scored a game-high 22 points but Concord (WV) won the game in posting a 71-50 decision over Mansfield in the second round of the Fairmont State New Year’s Classic Thursday afternoon.

Concord (6-2) jumped out to a 12-4 lead in the first four minutes of the game and extended its advantage to as much as ten points before Espigh connected on a 3-pointer to cut the lead to 22-16 with just under ten minutes to play in the first half.

But that was a close of the Mountaineers would get as Concord took a 37-21 lead into halftime and extended the lead in second half.

Espigh connected on 8-12 attempts from the floor including 6-of-9 three-point shots to tie her season high of 22 points. Clarissa Correll added nine points with four steals and three assists.

Samm Nester led Concord with 17 points while Amber Showalter recorded a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Mansfield falls to 4-7 on the season and will host California (PA) in a PSAC crossover contest Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. in Decker gymnasium.
