FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Mounties Suffer First PSAC East Loss in 70-63 Setback at West Chester – Setback Ends Five-Game Winning Streak

WEST CHESTER – West Chester connected on 22-25 free throws including 11-of-12 over the last five minutes to pull out a 70-63 win over Mansfield in a PSAC East contest at Hollinger Fieldhouse Saturday afternoon.

The Mountaineers struggled against a pressure defense turning the ball over 16 times in the first half in trailing 32-24 at halftime.

Mansfield roared out of halftime behind senior Jess Uhrich, who scored six points over the first five minutes, to close the gap to 40-39 on a layup by Clarissa Correll at the 14:07 mark. West Chester countered with a 4-0 run but Mansfield came right back going on a 6-0 run with Correll giving the Mountaineers their first lead on the day with a layup with 10:35 to play.

West Chester held a 53-52 lead with just under five minutes to play but outscored Mansfield 10-0 run including 4-4 on free throws to take an insurmountable 63-52 lead with 1:34 to play.

Mansfield turned the ball over 29 times while shooting just seven free throws, making six of them.

Jess Uhrich scored 15 of her game high 19 points in the second half and recorded her 11 double-double of the season and 28^th of her career pulling down 10 rebounds to lead Mansfield. Courtney Brooks scored 12 points and added three steals. Clarissa Correll added eight points off the bench. Brittany Reed and Emily Akins each added seven points.

Jeanelle Garber came off the bench to lead four West Chester (3-1, 8-10) players in double figures with 17 points while Katie Kline recorded a double-double with 15 points and a game high 15 rebounds.

The loss snaps a five-game winning streak for the Mountaineers who are now 3-1 in the PSAC East and 10-8 overall.
